Self control works!

Noticed a huge difference on my scale in the morning the other day when I didnt stuff my face with cheese the night before! Shocking, I know, but you still dont expect to see immediate results always.  It was extremely gratifying.  So, I somewhat repeated the process last night (I ate more cheese than I should have with dinner, and then my family had a small Rosh Hashana celebration at night) but I didnt stuff myself before going to bed.  The result is that the scale has moved slightly below where it was the other day - not a dramatic difference, but a clear difference nevertheless.

YAY!

TV workout smorgasbord

I tried a bunch of different workouts on the TV today.  Started with Bollywood Dance, then followed up with the same workout I did on my first TV day (lots of jumping jacks!) and finally, did a floor aerobics workout.  The workouts are really great because they are short, they can be paused, and they are quite entertaining.  I do miss the camaraderie of a class, but, especially with the Dance and Aerobics sections, its nice to look like a moron in the privacy of my own living room.  No one needs to be bothered that i have no rhythm, and there is no one for me to run into when I get off beat!

Unique discovery: Intervals work!

I ran intervals today! I completely forgot how hard it is, especially after doing soft easy runs for so long.  Normally, with running my problem is that I get bored long before I get tired.  Not this time - my calves were  and are, aching.  This kind of run is definitely more effective, both from a mental and physical perspective.

Now to do some core exercises on the TV.

Update: Willpower needs improvement - the food part is really giving me trouble.

Starting the Day off Well

Today Im starting the day off on a good note - I ran a nice 2.2 mile run and now I'm going to do some workouts with the TV - Comcast OnDemand has some great workouts which I keep planning to use.
I did a great 14 minute cardio workout - lots of jumping jacks, but it was the jumping squats that really took it out of me!

Next time I work out, I plan to do interval running.  Its a great way to get better and also burns a bunch more calories in a shorter amount of time.

Days of Failure

Ok - the past two days have not been very successful - Day 2 was going great, but then my friend ordered mozzarella sticks when we were having drinks and I helped finish them.  Because many of my friends like to not finish their food.  And it drives me crazy.  And in this case, mozzarella sticks are delicious and were sitting right in front of me.

Then I had a cupcake, because we were near my most favorite cupcake place of all time, Molly's.  So, I was off the wagon, and I fell off the wagon again on Day 3.  Also at night.

Nighttime is my biggest problem.  I can meet reasonably healthfully throughout the day, but then night time comes, and I'm bored.  I begin to crave things, usually cheese or salami.  The biggest problem with this is that I cannot expect it to end on its own when I get a job - evenings will still be there.

I believe that the primary solution is to go to bed earlier (I typically go to bed at midnight).  Solution number 2 is to exert will power.  I am going to try Solution number 1 first.

I am not writing the number of my weight in here because I'm uncomfortable with it and I live in the belief that I look at least a little bit thinner than the actual number.  I think that letting people I know see the actual number will change their perception of me.  So I'm going to keep it close to the chest for now.

First Day

So - I am writing this because it is time for me to lose some weight.  I've done it before, and I want to do it again.  I'm not happy with the weight I am at.  Also, I want to look pretty for wedding pictures =)
This blog is pretty much for me - I plan to keep journals of what I'm eating, and workouts I'm doing.  I'm told this is useful for weight loss.  My ideal goal is to lose about 65 pounds, but I'm willing to settle for 45.
For me, the key thing is to stop eating when I'm bored, and to stop eating when I'm full.  That and get into running again, and get over the fact that its boring.

And out for today!
